Ariane Recording

A live recording of Massenet's Ariane has been released on September 8th with Ms. Edris as the title role. Recorded at the Prinzregententheater in Munich in January 2023, this release by Palazzetto Bru Zane is the only recording of this rarely performed opera.

Merging Greek mythology with Symbolist Poetry, this opera depicts the battling of the Minotaur, a storm-tossed boat, and transforms its listeners to Perséphone's Underworld realm. Bru Zane describes Ms. Edris’ performance as “full of fire and passion, and she is ably supported by a cast well-versed in the specificities of the French style.” She is joined by Marianne Croux, Judith van Wanroij, Kate Aldrich, Julie Robard-Gendre, Jean-Francois Borras, Yoann Dubruque, Jean-Sébastien Bou and Philippe Estèphe, as well as the Bavarian Radio Choir and the Munich Radio Orchestra, conducted by a great champion of Massenet’s works, Laurent Campellone.

Passionate about French repertoire, with the performance of this role Ms. Edris adds to her growing list of French heroines having recently performed the title role in Massenet's Manon, Juliette in Gounod's Roméo et Juliette,  La Folie in Rameau's Platée, Fatime in Rameau's Les Indes galantes, and Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen. This also marks Amina's second recording for Palazzetto Bru Zane, having performed Alice in Robert le Diable with the label.
